Manchester United Vs Crystal Palace Pre-Season Preview

‘Crystal Palace’ is not just the name of a football team. The name is also a symbol of strength and resilience. The Crystal Palace team is known to be one of the strongest teams in the world. Despite the challenges that they face, they never give up. Their determination and willingness to fight are what have made them so popular.

Pre-season preparations

Despite being weakened by high profile absentees, Crystal Palace have looked good in pre-season. They’ve drawn twice, beaten Millwall and Ipswich Town, and lost to Liverpool. They are also preparing to take on Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers in the next week.

Manchester United’s first match in Australia was a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace. David de Gea, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all scored, while Will Fish was sent off late on. The game was broadcast live on MUTV.

The Red Devils then played Aston Villa in Perth, drawing 2-2. Ten Hag introduced a new style of play, with a higher press. It’s clear that the new coach is bringing positive changes to the squad. He’s given each player 45 minutes in the first two games.

Erik ten Hag’s pre-season preparations have been well received. The former Ajax manager has won a host of big name suitors, but there are no sign of Alejandro Garnacho or Hannibal.

Team news

Having won two of their two pre season friendlies, Manchester United are ready to take on Crystal Palace at the MCG on Thursday. The Red Devils are playing a team that they have often beaten in the past.

The Red Devils will be bringing back David de Gea for the match against Crystal Palace. He was injured during their win over Liverpool and returned to training on Monday. A major doubt for the Crystal Palace match is winger Odsonne Edouard.

Crystal Palace are a team that has struggled to get started in the new season. They are not including Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha in their squad. The club is also missing many first-team players on their Asia tour.

Nine senior players are not travelling with the squad because they have been vaccinated for the Covid virus. This means that Patrick Vieira is severely short on first-team players. He may be able to stick with the same team that played against Everton last week.

Highlights

Having scored four goals in their last three pre-season games, Manchester United made their mark on the opening match of the new season. Despite having nine players missing due to injury, the Reds beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to claim their first victory of the summer.

It was a positive start to the season for United, who finished six points behind West Ham in the Premier League. They also thrashed Champions League finalists Liverpool 4-0 in their first pre-season game. With Erik ten Hag as manager, the team has improved considerably.

Manchester United started well, with Rafael van de Beek setting up the first goal with a tidy pass. But after the break, the visitors were in control. The Reds had some chances but could not break down a resolute Palace defence.

After a couple of decent attacking moments, the game teetered to a halt in the final ten minutes. The Reds were reduced to 10 men after Will Fish was sent off for a professional foul.

Analysis

Despite their sluggish start, Manchester United managed to win a pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace at the MCG. The victory boosts the team’s confidence. Several players were in the squad who could be loaned out.

The Red Devils started the game with a 4-2-2-2 formation. The new formation was put into action when they applied an intense press against the Crystal Palace players. The wide attackers were free to drop in and link with the midfield.

They continued to apply the same press in the second half. The wide attacking players were also allowed to spin to make the most of their opportunities. The result was a counter-attacking attack.

After a long period of possession, the United forwards worked the ball back infield. The ball was eventually played to Anthony Martial, who was given space to play a cross to Jadon Sancho. The youngster dinked the ball past Matthews.

A goal might have changed the game. But a crucial intervention from Harry Maguire prevented Crystal Palace from grabbing a deserved equaliser.
